Digital Experience + Development Lead

Transforming Fox Focus into an interactive digital publication.

Fox Focus had traditionally been delivered as a print magazine and digital flipbook. For the 2025 issue, I helped create a dedicated web-based publication experience that presents stories through a more immersive, responsive and accessible format.

The project translated a traditional magazine into a custom digital experience combining editorial storytelling, visual design, interactive navigation and front-end development.

The archive still matters, but it becomes part of the broader publishing system. The Fox website now connects the 2025 digital issue with previous custom editions and a flipbook archive extending through earlier issues.

Problem

Fox Focus was created as a highly visual editorial publication, but traditional digital delivery depended heavily on downloadable PDFs and third-party flipbook experiences.

Those formats preserved the appearance of the printed magazine, but they were less effective at adapting content for different devices, supporting flexible navigation or taking advantage of the web as a storytelling platform.

The challenge was to preserve the character and editorial quality of Fox Focus while rebuilding the experience specifically for digital audiences.

Solution

I helped create a dedicated digital publication that translates the magazine’s editorial content into an interactive web experience.

The issue opens with a branded visual introduction and provides direct access to its featured stories, including profiles of MBA alumni, case-study competition coverage, faculty scholarship and the Doctor of Business Administration program milestone.

Rather than presenting every story as a separate conventional webpage, the experience uses a menu-driven interface that loads publication content within a unified environment. This helps the issue feel like one connected editorial experience instead of a loose collection of articles.

The publication was developed with responsive layouts, structured content, optimized imagery and reusable front-end patterns. The completed issue was then connected to the main Fox Focus archive alongside earlier custom editions and historical flipbooks.

The completed project:

  • Extended Fox Focus beyond the limitations of a traditional flipbook
  • Created a custom digital home for the 2025 issue
  • Made feature stories easier to discover and explore
  • Preserved the publication’s visual and editorial identity
  • Supported desktop, tablet and mobile audiences
  • Connected multiple stories within one cohesive experience
  • Established reusable digital-publishing patterns
  • Maintained access through the larger publication archive
  • Created a stronger foundation for future digital issues
